Four masked men posing as C5 police officers attacked a home in Lumezi District, robbing a couple of property and cash worth K57,800 before dumping the homeowner ten kilometers away.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, which took place on Monday, September 21, 2026, around 22:30 hours at Nida Village in Chief Zumwanda’s area.
The victim, 40-year-old Undani Mvula, opened his door after the intruders knocked and claimed to be C5 officers conducting an operation with colleagues.
Once inside, the four masked men—armed with a pair of scissors and a log—tied Mr. Mvula up with ropes and demanded money. The attackers ransacked the house and an adjacent shop, stealing a red Gatoma motorbike valued at K25,850, K28,600 in cash, ten Sundar radio speakers worth K2,150, and six small Itel mobile phones valued at K1,200.
Following the robbery, the culprits forced Mr. Mvula onto the motorbike they had arrived on, drove off, and abandoned him about 10 kilometers from his home. Both victims suffered physical injuries during the ordeal; Mr. Mvula sustained swollen hands and legs, while his 30-year-old wife, Ruth Nyirenda, suffered a swollen face and general body pains after being beaten by the suspects.
Police visited the scene, issued a medical report form, and opened a formal case file. No arrests have been made as investigations continue.
