The Independent Broadcasting Authority-IBA has suspended the broadcasting licences of four stations for 30 days over various regulatory breaches.
The affected stations are 3FM Radio of Chipata, Mungu FM Radio of Mongu and Healing TV of Lusaka, which have been suspended for non-payment of their 2026 annual operating fees.
KBN TV has also been suspended for breaching the 2026 Election Coverage Guidelines and other broadcasting standards. IBA Director General Webster Malido says KBN TV was found to have failed to conduct discussions in a balanced, fair and objective manner, among other breaches.
Mr Malido says the station also broadcast unverified and unsubstantiated information, failed to provide alternative viewpoints and the right to reply, and did not effectively moderate a programme.
He says the IBA has further cautioned 16 stations over breaches identified during its monitoring of the 2026 General Election coverage.
Mr Malido says the affected stations have been directed to undertake corrective measures and strengthen their staff capacity to ensure compliance with broadcasting standards.
