Former Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba says the mining sector which ought to be a blessing to the county is proving to be a curse.

Mr Mwamba who is the PF wishful presidential candidate lamented that Zambians do not benefit as much as they ought to from the mines.

He said it is the foreigners that are benefiting from Zambia’s natural resources at the expenses of the locals.

Mr Mwamba said Zambia loses $3 billion yearly in unpaid taxes from named firms.

He added that an additional $1 billion is lost through tax concessions.

The former Ambassador wondered why government would run to IMF over a $1.3 billion deal when such an amount can be generated locally.

He was speaking when he featured on Radio Christian Voice today.
