Motorbikes are fast replacing bicycles as a mode of transportation in the city of Chipata, Eastern Province, as transporters resort to using motorbikes to ferry goods and passengers to various destinations.
Since time immemorial, the people of Chipata have been using bicycles as a mode of transport, covering long distances in the mountainous district.
The bicycles were also used as taxis to ferry people within the central business district and to the outskirts.
