Around 23:00 hours, Wednesday, August 14, 2022 UPND cadres invaded Socialist Party’s main campaign camp in Luangwa injuring many people and damaging several motor vehicles.
The police were called in but had no motor vehicle. And when they came in they made no arrests of UPND cadres who had invaded an SP camp and were still at the camp.
This seems to have become a usual practice of the UPND. They did it with impunity against SP in the by-elections of Kaumbwe in Petauke, Lufubu in Mwansabombwe, Sokontwe in Milenge and Lukutu in Luwingu.
They deploy violence to disorganise their main competitors. Theirs seems to be “to win at any cost “. And leading the UPND campaign team in Luangwa is a man well known for violence – William Banda.
