Elected officers have no right to fire or transfer officers in Local Authorities, the Local Government Service Commission Chairperson Ackson Sejani has said.
This follows numerous reports of officers being transferred by elected officials in Councils.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on North Western Province Deputy Permanent secretary Naomi Tetamashimba in Solwezi, Mr Sejani said only the commission has the authority to transfer officers in the local authority.
He said elected officials are meant to provide guidance on policy matters while the commission is in charge of overseeing the welfare of human resource in Local authorities.
