Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi says his office will continue to collaborate with the United Nations on peacekeeping and security issues.

General Alibuzwi said this when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency, Dr Chola Milambo in New York.

He said Zambian peace keepers were professionally carrying out their duties in the various missions they were deployed as mandated by the United Nations.

General Alibuzwi further said he would meet with senior officers at the UN to work out challenges that might be there in order to position the Zambian peacekeepers for further engagements in UN missions.

He said Zambia prioritises the protection of women, especially children in peacekeeping missions.

And Dr Milambo, who welcomed the delegation, said Zambia would continue to fly the flag of peace.

He, however, cautioned that the peace that Zambia enjoys should not be taken for granted.

While in New York, the Army Commander also met with the Office of the Military Affairs (OMA).

Earlier, General Alibuzwi and his delegation attended the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) conference in Washington DC held under the theme ‘Building the Army of 2030’.

The conference attracted 30,000 delegates and over 650 exhibitors.

This is according to a statement issued by Namatama Njekwa, the

First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian Mission in New York.
