A 30 year old Lawyer of Petauke District has rescued herself from her abusive husband who becomes uncontrollably violent at any trivial argument and vents his anger on anything close to him.
The Lusaka Boma Local Court has learnt that Zenat Gambi has done a ‘Mulife’ on her husband due to his violent conduct and has been missing in action from her Matrimonial home for three months.
In this case, Chibasu Mulali 35 of Ibex Hill Lusaka has sued to divorce Gambi on grounds that she has distanced herself from him for more than three months.
Mulali has complained that he is not been able to see his wife and Children since she left the house on pretext of going for work.
He said he only sees his wife on her Facebook posts when she visits Lusaka for a weekend partying and posting demonizing statements about him.
In defense, Gambi said her husband is a very moody and violent man who has a tendency of breaking household items at every small argument.
” After beating me, he would go out and smoke and then come back inside telling me, you just don’t want to be happy in this marriage, let’s just forget about everything,” Gambi narrated.
She said her husband had a habit of leaving the house after an argument and only returned home the following day around zero four or five in the morning.
Gambi narrated as if that was not enough, she would find lipsticks and powder in his car for other women.
The couple which has been married since 2019 has three children aged between 5 months and 6 years.
After hearing from both sides, Justice Lombe Chibesakunda dismantled the marriage and ordered Mulali to compensate his ex-wife with K6000 to be paid in monthly instalment of K2000 and support children with K2000 every month.
And Justice Chibesakunda told Mulali that a woman needs to be spoiled and treated like a breakable glass.
He added that if he does not change his behaviour, even other women will run away from him. This is contained in a report published by Nkani.
