A woman of Nchelenge district identified as Rachael Chishala has allegedly been strangled to death by her ex- husband, who later tried to take his own life by taking an unknown poisonous substance.
Ms. Chishala ,21, whose body was laying lifeless with a wire tied around her neck was found by her sister.
The suspect Abbishy Kaunda is currently admitted at St Paul’s mission hospital and is under police guard.
According to a report published by Mwebantu, Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in an interview that the incident happened on Wednesday, 9th November, 2022, between 22:00 hours and 23:30 hours.
“After inspecting the deceased’s body it was discovered that she had a wire tied around her neck and bruises around the neck. She is suspected to have been murdered by her former husband Abbishy Kaunda . The suspect is suspected to have taken doom after the commission of murder as he wanted to take his own life. However he was later rushed to Saint Paul’s Mission hospital where he is admitted under police guard. Police Investigations are ongoing,” he said.
