(ZNBC) The Network of Zambian People Living with HIV and AIDS -NZP Plus- has called for intensified HIV prevention interventions targeting adolescents and youths.

NZP Plus Programme Manager Dennis Chibuye says stopping new HIV infections is key to ending AIDS by 2030.

Speaking to ZNBC news in Lusaka today ahead of the December 1 World AIDS Day Commemorations, Mr. Chibuye said the spike in new HIV infections is because the country has not allocated adequate resources in HIV prevention programmes especially targeting adolecents and youth.

He said while the country is doing well with treating people living with HIV, new infections must be stopped.

In 2021, Zambia recorded 38,000 new HIV infections of which 11,000 were adolescents and youths from 15 to 24 years.
