GOVERNMENT has delivered about 60 percent of fertiliser to depots in some parts of the country for distribution to 1,024,434 beneficiaries under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2022/2023 season.
Over 300,000 tonnes of fertiliser is set to be given to recipients.
Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo says most depots have received the commodity despite distribution starting a little late this season.
Mr Mtolo said as of yesterday, the 55 percent distribution coverage of fertiliser was expected to rise to 60 percent.
“We started this Farmer Input Support Programme slightly late but now, as we speak, fertilisers have been taken to the depots, most of the depots in the country up to 55 percent maybe, by tonight (yesterday), when I get new figures, we will be looking at 60 percent”, Mr Mtolo said.
