Choma District Road Traffic Inspector, Edgar Chafye, has cautioned motorist and other road users from being careless on the road during the festive period.

According to Byta FM News, Chafye says that road users need to be road smart for them to stay alive, explaining that road traffic related accidents are usually on the rise in this period due to intoxication and excitement.

He has also noted the need for categories of road users such as cyclists and motorcycle operators to ensure they always put on protective gear for their safety.

And Southern Province Police Chief Inspector from the traffic division, Thomas Ng’andu, has warned against the breaking of road safety rules which is always on a rise during festive seasons.

Nga’ndu says there is no need for one to rush on the road and break traffic rules, adding that doing so may result in death.

He has asked road users to be cautious of their actions to avoid implicating and exposing other people to harm.
