The family of the 11-months-old baby of Mtendere East Township who was allegedly killed by a 13-year-old neighbour believe the death was an accident.
Catherine Siakande who is the grandmother of the infant, said in an interview that though the incident is tragic, they do not believe that the juvenile could intentionally harm the child as they believe she loved her.
“The girl loved the baby and would willingly offer to play with her. That is the reason we are all in shock. Everything we know about the incident is based on what we have heard,” she said.
Last week, police in Lusaka arrested the for allegedly causing the death of the infant after allegedly hitting her on the floor to stop her from crying. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Daily Mail.
