Sikota Wina dies at 91

We have learnt with deep sorrow of the death of Hon. Sikota Wina who has died at the age of 91.

Hon. Sikota Wina dedicated his life to the political and socio-economical emancipation of our people.

During his long and illustrious career, he served as a Member of the Legislative Council as well as the National Assembly.

He was privileged to be the country’s first Minister of Health. He also held various Cabinet positions including Minister for Local Government and Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism.

Zambians may recall that during the wind of change in 1990/91, Hon Wina joined hands with many other patriots to help in the ushering of the multiparty democracy.

He and his generation will be remembered for their selfless and sacrificial leadership that was driven by patriotism and love for the country.

Our deep-felt condolences go to the family and the people of Zambia on this sad loss.

May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
