Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo has cautioned farmers against selling their maize to foreign nationals even before it is harvested.

Mr Mtolo said farmers should wait for the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to buy the maize because they may lose out in case the agency sets a better price than what some private buyers are offering.

“Government is aware that some of the farmers are already selling the crop which is still in the field before it is harvested. Kindly be alerted on time that it will not be allowed,” he said.

“We will not allow foreigners to come into Zambia and do as they wish. Every country has rules and regulations”, Mr Mtolo said.
