Government says it is misleading to insinuate that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has fired Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Chairperson retired Justice ESAU CHULU and his Vice EMILY SIKAZWE.
According to ZNBC, Chief Government Spokesperson, CHUSHI KASANDA says the President merely notified the two about the non – renewal of their contracts which are due to expire.
Ms KASANDA says the President made this decision in exercise of the power vested in him under Section 4 (3) of the ECZ (Amendment) Act number 5 of 2019.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Ms KASANDA, who is also Information and Media Minister, has since advised to the public to ignore the media reports to this effect.
