A TEAM of medical doctors at University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) led by a Chinese surgeon last week successfully conducted a brain surgery.

Speaking on Tuesday when he received medical and surgical supplies from a Chinese medical team, UTH senior medical superintendent Charles Mutemba revealed that the operation was the first of its kind in the country.

โ€œLast week, we did something that is innovative. We conducted a brain operation for the first time and it was spearheaded by a Chinese surgeon,โ€ Dr Mutemba said.

He said such operations help cut down costs because in the past they were only conducted outside the country.
