A TEAM of medical doctors at University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) led by a Chinese surgeon last week successfully conducted a brain surgery.

Speaking on Tuesday when he received medical and surgical supplies from a Chinese medical team, UTH senior medical superintendent Charles Mutemba revealed that the operation was the first of its kind in the country.

“Last week, we did something that is innovative. We conducted a brain operation for the first time and it was spearheaded by a Chinese surgeon,” Dr Mutemba said.

He said such operations help cut down costs because in the past they were only conducted outside the country.
