Ten people, among them three males, five females and two juveniles have died on the spot after a Toyota Corolla (Registration No. ABL 9194) they were travelling in collided head on with an unregistered Toyota Rav 4 driven by a Tanzania National identified as Mohamed Salum Yusuph aged 51.

Central Province Police Commissioner, David Chileshe, has confirmed that the accident happened around 21:39 hours last night, near Sino Hydro main gate along the great North road.

According to police preliminary investigations indicate that the Tanzanian driver failed to keep to his side and hence hit into the Corolla which was coming from the opposite direction causing the death of ten people including the driver of the Corolla.

And police disclosed that all the bodies are deposited in Mkushi Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem while the Tanzanian driver has been admitted to the same hospital as he is suspected of having sustained internal injuries.
