Golden party President Jackson Silavwe has called for the Inspector General of police Graphael Musamba to focus on enhancing the professionalism of the police service, ensuring it serves all Zambians impartially and without p0litical bias, rather than claiming that there are polically inclined cops in the service.

Speaking in response to Musamba’s recent statement that the Zambia Police Service command has embarked on a vigorous exercise of flashing out of its system ‘junk!e officers’ pollitically inclined, Silavwe said the IG’s statement was intimidating.

He argues that Musamba’s statement serves as a pretext for the ongoing nationwide purg£ of civil servants, which he asserts is characteristic of the current administration.

He has condemned the IG’s statement “in the strongest words possible,” saying it suggests an underlying tone that he finds alarming.

Silavwe has also questioned the implications of Musamba’s approach towards police officers, especially when it involves derogatory terms like “junkies”.

He has further raised concern about the treatment of ordinary Zambians who may hold views different from the ruling party or the IG himself.
