Government says financial statements of the 10 million kwacha that was paid to the Football Association of Zambia –FAZ- to offset some of its debt should not be part of agenda items for Friday’s Elective Annual General Meeting.

Of the 10 million kwacha, 7 million went towards payment of debt to NAPSA and ZRA while 3 million Kwacha was allocated to user fees for the National Heroes and Levy Mwanawasa Stadia.

National Sports Council of Zambia Director SOMBWA MUSUNSA says government remains committed to supporting the association.

MUSUNSA says this is contrary to some media assertions that the Ministry of Sports decided not to allow the former FAZ President to chair the AGM nor present the financial statements.

He says government also continues to pay the two national team coaches despite some delays in fulfilling this obligation, caused by the Association’s failure to submit the contract for the Women’s National Team coach.

In a statement to ZNBC Sports, MUSUNSA said the status does not in any way affect the financial statements of FAZ which should ordinarily be presented at the AGM.
