The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has intensified its “Operation Kufeza,” leading to the arrest of several individuals across the Eastern, Northern, and Muchinga provinces. In a series of coordinated raids, officers seized over 320 kilograms of cannabis plants and more than 100 kilograms of loose cannabis. Notable arrests included Undi Mwanza in Nyimba and a group of four men in Lundazi involved in the storage and supply of the illegal plants.
Beyond local cultivation, the operation also disrupted international smuggling. In Nakonde, officials intercepted Samuel Adam Sinkamba, a suspected member of a trans-national syndicate, who was found with nearly 12 kilograms of Khat hidden in laptop bags. The DEC has confirmed that all suspects are now facing legal action and continues to urge the public to report any suspicious activities to help combat drug-related crime in the country.
