Six people have died after a boat carrying 23 passengers capsized on Lake Bangweulu in Luapula Province.
The six bodies have been recovered.
Luapula Province Minister Nason Musonda confirmed the incident to ZNBC News in Mansa.
Mr. Musonda said the vessel, carrying over 23 passengers, was traveling from Lubwa to Chishi Island when the accident occurred.
He added that government will cover all funeral expenses.
Burial for the six recovered bodies is expected to take place today, in line with local tradition that requires those who die on the water to be buried near the lake.
