Government has announced that it is considering incorporating Paul Muchindo University into Kapasa Makasa university in Chinsali, an initiative aimed at addressing limited infrastructure at the university while strengthening the delivery of higher education in the region.
Education Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Dr. Kelvin Mambwe revealed the proposal during a meeting with university management and student union leaders at Kapasa Makasa university.
Dr. Mambwe said government will engage all relevant institutions and stakeholders before making a final decision on the matter.
He also reaffirmed government’s commitment to student welfare, noting that bursary awards have increased from about 21,000 in 2021 to more than 40,000 currently.
Meanwhile, Kapasa Makasa University Vice Chancellor Professor Jacob Mwitwa assured the Permanent Secretary that university management will continue making progress in fulfilling the institution’s core mandate of teaching and research.
