A 30-year-old man from Chief Magodi in Chasefu District has been arrested for allegedly defil!ng a 4-year-old girl after giving her K2 to buy sweets.
The incident occurred today, 2nd July, 2026, at around 12:00 hours.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident.
Brief facts of the matter are that the victim was playing with her friends at a neighbour’s house when a man identified as Phiri appeared and offered her K2 to buy sweets.
According to the Police, instead of taking the girl to the shop where sweets are sold, ther suspect led the victim into a nearby bush, removed his trousers, and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor.
Back at home, the father began looking for the child so she could have lunch. He was informed that the girl had been taken into the bush by Phiri.
The father followed them and found Phiri with his pants down, having sexual intercourse with the 4-year-old girl.
The victim sustained injuries to her private parts.
She has since been issued with a police medical report form for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been formally arrested for defilement and will appear in court soon.
