A 15‑year‑old girl in Zimba District, Southern Province has allegedly been defiled and made pregnant by her cousin, aged between 23 and 25.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the incident, saying the girl is believed to be four months pregnant while the suspect remains on the run.
Mr. Namalongo says the defilement occurred between January and February 2026 at Siejumba Village in Chief Simwatachela’s area.
He said the suspect lured the girl with a promise of money while she was guarding her grandmother’s crop fields.
The matter was only discovered on June 25, 2026, when the grandmother noticed physical changes in the girl and took her for medical examination, which confirmed the pregnancy.
Upon questioning, the juvenile named her cousin as the perpetrator.
