POLICE in Lusaka’s Kuku have retrieved the body of a truck driver who drowned in Blue Water Dam on Friday.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement that Nabby Chitoshi’s body was retrieved on Sunday with the help of members of the public.

Chitoshi, who was a truck driver from Kawambwa, last Tuesday parked a truck at Blue Water Motel in Lusaka’s Chawama around 21:00 hours.

Mr Hamoonga said Chitoshi spent a night on the truck, but disappeared the following day.

However, yesterday, his clothes, cell phone, car keys and detergent paste were found on the banks of Blue Water dam where a number of people, mostly children, have in the past drowned while playing.

“The body has been identified by family members to be that of Chitoshi Shingwe Nabby Junior,” he said. “Police examined the body and no physical injuries were observed. The body has since been deposited at University Teaching Hospitals awaiting post-mortem and burial.

“We want to extend our appreciation to the residents of Kuku for their tireless effort in rendering help by working with us in retrieving the body of the deceased. When the community joins hands with the police, a lot can be achieved in the fight against crime.” police said.
