A High Court in Abuja has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to death by hanging for her murder.
Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme delivered the judgment on April 28, 2025, three years after Osinachi’s tragic death on April 8, 2022.
Osinachi, known for her powerful worship songs, among them Ekueme, left behind four children. Initially, her death was linked to throat cancer, but her family later revealed she had endured years of domestic violence.
The court found Mr. Nwachukwu guilty after a lengthy trial in which 17 witnesses, including two of their children, testified. 25 documents were also tendered as evidence.
Beyond the death sentence, the court also imposed prison terms and fines for spousal battery and child cruelty.
This verdict is not just a legal win—it is a loud call against domestic violence in our homes and communities.
May Osinachi’s soul rest in peace, and may her story continue to save lives.
