April 21, 2026-The Zambia Police Service in Wester Province wishes to inform the public of a tragic murder case reported at Sesheke Police Station.The incident, recorded is believed to have occurred on April 18, 2026 around 23:00 hours in Village Lifelo, Chief Imalenda’s area, Sesheke District.

The matter was reported on April 19, 2026 at 10:23 hours by Mr. Mwendabai Sankando (42), Councillor for Lwampungu Ward.The area is situated 120 km from Sesheke.

The victim, identified as Nalucha Pumulo (19), was allegedly murdered by her husband, Mwanalushi Kula (23), both residents of the same village.

Brief facts of the matter indicate that on the material day, the couple had marital disputes which led the deceased to temporarily leave their matrimonial home and seek refuge at a relative’s house. Later that night, the suspect reportedly followed her and attacked her using an axe while she slept, inflicting fatal injuries to the head. He fled the scene immediately after the act.

In a follow-up to the incident, Police officers, accompanied by a medical doctor from Yeta District Hospital, visited the crime scene.

The body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house. A blood-stained axe, believed to have been used in the act, was recovered at the scene.

The deceased sustained two deep and severe cuts to the head. A postmortem examination conducted at the scene preliminarily established the cause of death as severe head trauma resulting from the inflicted injuries.

The body has since been handed over to the family for burial.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large, and a manhunt has been launched. The Zambia Police Service strongly warns that anyone found harboring or aiding the suspect will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Members of the public with any information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect are urged to report to the nearest police station immediately.
