The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Hamanyanga Hamanyanga, a 32-year-old Ward Development Committee (WDC) member from Kishitu Compound in Mulobezi District, Western Province, for corrupt practices involving K200,000.00.

Hamanyanga has been charged with one count of Failure to Disclose Interest, which violates Paragraph 5 of the Schedule to the Constituency Development Fund Act No. 11 of 2018.

ACC investigations revealed that between January 1 and January 31, 2024, Hamanyanga, while serving on the Constituency Development Fund Committee at Mulobezi Town Council, failed to disclose his personal interest regarding a loan empowerment application filed by his brother’s company, Hantulu Hamanyanga Transport and General Dealers. Despite the conflict of interest, he participated in reviewing, discussing, and recommending the company for a K200,000.00 empowerment loan.

Following the arrest, the Commission issued a stern warning to public resource administrators, stating it will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who abuses funds meant for citizens. Hamanyanga has been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court soon.
