Despite Zambia hosting a high level delegation meeting this week, the 4th African Union (AU) Mid-year Coordinating M 9eeting, the occupancy rate in most hotels in Lusaka is still quite low.

According to Zambia Daily Mail, over 4,000 delegates, including nine heads of State, are expected to attend the meeting, which will be held at the newly-built Kenneth Kaunda wing at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Strengthening resilience in nutrition and food security on the African continent”.

Players in the hospitality industry were highly expectant of the event and started making preparations for the event two years ago.

Most tour operators, especially those in Lusaka, expect their hotels to be fully booked as delegates begin to troop in.
