(FAZ) The Zambia Women’s National Team has won bronze in their debut appearance at the Turkish Women’s Cup.

The Copper Queens beat Uzbekistan 4-0 and narrowly lost 1-0 to champions Slovenia to end the round-robin tournament with three points. South Africa finished runners-up after a 3-0 win over Uzbekistan and a 1-1 draw with Slovenia.

In the individual award, Madrid CFF forward Rachael Kundananji was named as the ‘Best Striker of the Tournament’ after her outstanding performance that included a superb freekick against Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

The team is expected back in the country on Friday while all foreign-based players will fly directly to their respective bases.

FAZ has mapped out an intensive preparatory program for the Copper Queens that has seen them play Colombia twice, the Turkish Women’s Cup in Alanya and another scheduled friendly against the Republic of Ireland set for June 22 at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
