The Zambia under-17 Women National Team put up a five-star performance in the opening match of the Region V Games against Botswana in Lilongwe.

A brace from Bwalya Chileshe and a goal each from Zangose Zulu, Harriet Matipa and Jessy Zulu sealed a 5-0 win for Zambia to start their title defence on a high.

Zambia’s next game will be against Comoros on Monday at the same venue.

The Copper Princesses are the defending champions of the Region V Games and have kept in tune with the fearsome reputation of the Zambian women game.

Despite arriving less than 24 hours to kick-off the Zambian team rose to the occasion to dispatch Botswana.
