Special Forces Training School Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Justin Mwansa is impressed with the remarkable performance of the special forces whom he urged not to retreat on physical fitness.

Lt Col Mwansa told the troops that the 55 km run was meant, apart from one to prove their levels of fitness, to subject their bodies to physical activity for a prolonged period of time.

He said covering such a distance in few hours demand high levels of endurance, stamina, high levels of self-discipline, strong mental fortitude and activeness during special operations.

Mbala has a rich military history following the establishment of offices by the British South Company ( BSA) and the offices were called ‘British Oversees Military Administration’ ( BOMA).

The district also hosts lake Chila that is also associated with the first World War between 1914 and 1918 where the Germans are believed to have thrown their weapons in the lake.
