An 11-year-old girl from Luanshya’s Mpatamato area lost her life while attempting to rescue a six-year-old girl from being electrocuted by underground Zesco cables. The incident occurred yesterday at around 18:00hrs when six-year-old Chrity Musonda suffered an electric shock while drinking water from an outside tap.
With extraordinary bravery, Blessings Shula rushed to the scene to rescue her fellow juvenile. However, Blessings also fell victim to the electrocution. It is believed that the tragedy was caused by a Zesco fault at house number 270/25 in Mpatamato.
While the survivor is in stable condition, the deceased has been taken to Roan Hospital Mortuary.
