A four months old baby from Chikankata District has allegedly been d£filed by an unknown person.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, says the incident was reported at Malabo Police Post on 29th February, 2024, by mother to the victim, with the occurrence date said to be 26th February.
He notes that the victim sustained pain on the private part, open wounds, as well as bruises.
Daka explains that on the material day, the mother to the victim decided to go and fetch water, leaving her daughter with the grandmother in the presence of her husband.
He says when she came back from the pump, the daughter seemed to be ok but later during the day when she decided to bath her, she noticed the wounds on the private part.
Daka states that when she inquired from her in-law, the child’s grandmother, who was in custody of the child at the time, she showed ignorance about the matter.
He says the case is still under investigations to bring the culprit to book while the victim is still admitted at Chikankata Mission Hospital where she is receiving treatment, with her condition said to be stable.
