The Czech Republic has extended a helping hand to Zambia amidst the country’s ongoing struggle with extreme drought by donating K5 million to help the worst affected communities.
As part of the official program during the official working visit of Speaker of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, a significant humanitarian donation of K5 million l was announced, aimed at providing immediate assistance to those affected by the devastating consequences of the drought.
Vystrčil emphasized the importance of the aid, stating that, “Although the donation is not large, it has two great advantages, we are providing it quickly and we are also an inspiration to others.”
“This initial assistance, channeled through the Zambian Red Cross, will support 3000 families affected by the dire drought conditions in the Western Province,” he said.
In addition to the immediate aid, Czechia has pledged an additional 535,000 USD (K13.9 million) towards mitigating the effects of extreme drought in Zambia.
This gesture shoes Czechia’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable communities in Zambia and reflects the deepening bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
With Zambia facing acute water shortages, failed crops, and dwindling food supplies, the humanitarian aid package comes at a critical time, offering hope and relief to those grappling with the harsh realities of the drought-stricken regions.
The delegation from Czechia delivered the announcement of the humanitarian aid donation during their official engagements in Zambia, highlighting the importance of international solidarity in times of crisis.
