An 18-year-old grade 9 pupil of Kitwe’s Mukuba Secondary School has committed su!c!de by hanging himself with a rope in his family house in Wusakile township.
According to Copperbelt Province Commissioner of Police Peacewell Mweemba, Shadrack Kunda hanged himself on Saturday, October 21, 2023 between 14 and 20 hours while his family went to church in Ndeke township.
Mr. Mweemba says following a report to Wusakile police station by the deceased’s cousin, Louis Mubanga, officers visited the scene and found the body had been brought down and put on the bed while police inspections showed no signs of any physical injury.
He says reports indicate that the deceased, who hanged himself using a r0pe tied to a wooden roof rafter, had stopped attending school for unknown reasons.
Mr. Mweemba adds that an inquiry has been opened into the matter while the body of the deceased has been taken to the Kitwe Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem to determine the actual cause of death.
