A 17-year-old boy has been apprehended for def!ling a six-year-old girl in a secluded bush.
The incident occurred in Shibuyunji district, leaving the community in disbelief.
According to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale, both the boy and the little girl attend the same school.
The boy, a grade eight student, lured the unsuspecting girl, who is in grade two, away from her classroom.
Innocently following him, she was led to a remote area where he reportedly undressed her and committed the act.
However, some bystanders noticed something in the bush and swiftly intervened before the boy could finish.
The school authorities were informed, leading to the apprehension of both the victim and the suspect.
The police are now handling the case, and the Victim Support Unit is actively investigating.
A medical report form has been issued to the victim’s parents to facilitate her access to necessary medical attention.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been released pending further legal action and investigation.
