On August 27,2023 Netflix premiered a Zambian movie “Can You See Us”.
Although the movie first premiered in Zambia in October,2022, it is only getting global attention now after featuring on Netflix
Reports indicate that it is the ranked number 4 in South Africa and number 1 in Nigeria on the list of most watched movie.
The story, written by Andrew and Lawrence Thompson is about a young boy with alb!nism, who is rej£cted by his father at b!rth and faces a long, hard ch!ldhood full of b.ullying, abus£, and d!scrimination.
The movie is seventh most trending topic on X formerly twitter. Many describe the movie as emotional but a story well told.
One reviewer wrote “I literally cried the whole time I watch the movie”
Another wrote, “This is a masterpiece”
And BBC Africa also reviewed the movie and that it is Zambia’s first full length movie to feature on Netflix.
The movie as a secret twist- boy with albinism in the movie is actually a girl.
