Green Party Leader Peter Sinkamba has asked the government to consider operationalizing current green energy agreements and to pursue further collaborations with nations such as China in order for Zambia to scale up electricity production to feed the SADC region.

According to Mr. Sinkamba, the country must combine the push to commence electric vehicle-EV- Battery Production with the expansion of power production beyond the existing level of roughly below 4,000 megawatts.

He believes that Zambia has a great business opportunity to capitalize on the arrival of EV’s by creating and supplying batteries while also producing the necessary quantity of electricity to power neighboring nations and car charging stations.

The Green Party Leader adds that Zambia is best placed to maximize the benefits of the green economy movement because the country has the resources to meet the demand for batteries and power the entire region.
